Dr Uri Davis, born in Jerusalem in 1943, a dual citizen of the State of Israel and the UK and Observer- Member of the Palestine National Council (PNC), has been at the forefront of the defence of human rights, notably the defence of Palestinian rights inside and outside the State of Israel, since the mid -1960s.
As an academic critically concerned with the subjects of citizenship, democracy and human rights, Uri Davis was one the first Jewish citizens of the State of Israel to have identified and referenced the core of Israeli apartheid, as anchored in and informed by political Zionist settler colonial ideology and practice in the country of Palestine (see his Israel: An Apartheid State and Apartheid Israel: Possibilties for the Struggle Within, Zed Books, London, 1987 & 2003 respectively).
This website brings together papers, articles, other narratives and images relevant to Uri Davis' lifetime work as one of the more significant actors in the anti-Zionist opposition to the idea of Israel as a "Jewish state" in the political Zionist sense of the term, and a leading anti-apartheid voice inside and outide the State of Israel.

On the occasion of his seventieth birthday, Dr Uri Davis, co-Founder the Exeter-based Palestine Studies Trust, was honoured by Institute of Arab & Islamic Studies (IAIS)/European Centre for Palestine Studies (ECPS), University of Exeter for his contribution to Palestine studies at the University and beyond, where he submitted a Paper delivered at the at the IAIS "Visiting Speakers Series" suggesting that the next best step for Palestine in the UN could very well be pressing the United Nations General Assembly to reduce the status of Israel from a Full-Member state to an Observer-Member state so long as the core of strategic Israeli apartheid legislation is not dismantled.
